CITY OF LEVELLAND RECOGNIZES SPCAA DURING COMMUNITY ACTION MONTH FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY

For Immediate Release

(LEVELLAND, TEXAS) – May is Community Action Month, where individuals across the country celebrate the efforts of their local Community Action Partnerships. South Plains Community Action Association has been proudly serving local communities for nearly 60 years with a variety of programs and services aimed at uplifting individuals out of poverty and promoting self-sufficiency.

The South Plains Community Action Association mission statement is “Helping People. Changing Lives.” At the heart of all the services provided at SPCAA, that mission statement holds strong. Some of the more notable programs under SPCAA are WIC, Head Start, Workforce Solutions, and SPARTAN Transportation. SPCAA also assists with utility expenses and locating housing.

The City of Levelland is proudly passing a resolution that officially recognizes the contributions made by SPCAA to the South Plains community. Executive Director of SPCAA, Bill Powell says, “Whether single moms, elderly, veterans or others in need, the total impact SPCAA has on South Plains communities has been tremendous. The quality of life has dramatically improved. While some wish to be a force for change, this organization is dedicated to being and remaining a force for opportunity, growth and a better life.”

The resolution celebrating SPCAA will be signed by Levelland Mayor Pinner on May 15th, 2023, at 6pm and all are welcome to join in the celebration at the Levelland City Hall.

South Plains Community Action Association is a member of the National Community Action Partnership and the Community Action Network, which was born out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Helping People. Changing Lives. SPCAA.ORG
