For Immediate Release
(LEVELLAND, TEXAS) – The severe storms that occurred between May 28th & 29th in the Hockley County area caused critical damage to the power grid, roads, buildings and homes. While the emergency team and first responders are addressing immediate issues, South Plains Community Action Association is here to help community members who still have non-emergency needs.
Residents in need are encouraged to make their way to the SPCAA SPARTAN facility located at 1105 TX-114 in Levelland, Texas. The facility is hosting a response center for residents impacted by the storm in Hockley County. Case managers are onsite to begin intake assessments of needs for residents in the area. The center is providing a limited amount of gift cards to purchase food and clothing that may have been destroyed in the storm. Individuals who are elderly or disabled and are without power, are strongly encouraged to make their way to the SPARTAN facility so they can keep cool inside the air conditioning.
SPCAA will continue to coordinate with first responders and local government officials to ensure that all community needs are addressed in the aftermath of the storms.
