With much anticipation, the new facility ground breaking took place June 7th. Several community leaders from near and far were in attendance, as well as some local residents.
The first phase of the building includes the storage facility, training lab and bus wash barn. This is due for completion by November 2018. The 2nd phase of the building complex will focus on the main transit administrative building housing all the staff, around 20-30 employees; it will have a large lobby area to receive passengers for pickup and drop off traveling through from various destinations. Through the collaboration with Greyhound, visitors and passengers will have the opportunity to continue on their journey by way of SPARTAN Transportation. This facility will also house a large training/conference room on the second floor.
One of the most exciting aspects of this facility – it will be the first of it’s kind in Texas. The first RURAL transit facility capable of connecting people to various communities in West Texas.
